Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Casa Yvonneka hosts another very succesful charity event combining culture with an elegant fund raiser for the local SPCA de Vallarta. The host and owner of Casa Yvonneka, Yvonne Kalman wanted to spotlight Dame Joan Sutherland, the wife of world famous conductor Richard Bonynge, who was at the event.
Richard Bonynge is a close friend of Yvonne and she was able to convince him to come all the way from Switzerland to attend the event. The evening included a video presentation by the Met Opera of the life and legacy of Dame Joan Sutherland. Included were some wonderful arias performed by Joan Sutherland and some never before shown videos with Luciano Pavorotti, Dinah Shore and Ella Fitzgerald. This video was shown at the Metropolitan Museum in New York recently to much acclaim.
It is a happy memorial about her rise from australian unknown to becoming La Stupenda and the greatest soprano of the 20th century.largely due to her husband Richard who will be watching the video with us.
All ticket sales go to the SPCA de Vallarta for the evening which also included an elegant cocktail hour before the video and a sumptius dinner for over 75 persons after the presentation.
The SPCA de Vallarta has been working hard to raise funds for a much needed shelter for homeless Dogs and Cats which will include an adoption program and much more.
