A luxurious relaxed breakfast or Bruch is one of my favorite meals – to me it is the true indication of living the good life, a relaxed lifestyle or even better - vacation. You can get up late and without rushing enjoy a languorous breakfast or brunch, knowing the rest of the day is a luxury of no commitments to be used to nap or if you are lucky enough to be on vacation in a sunny climate such as Puerto Vallarta,

If you are renting a private vacation villa the cook will be making breakfast each day, fresh juice made just before you sit down and all the freshest ingredients. However one day – why not go out for breakfast or enjoy one of the below restaurants for Brunch.

The latest Puerto Vallarta restaurants to add a Sunday Brunch are the following:

River Café, located on the Isla Cuale in a perfect tranquil setting. The Sunday brunch includes an omelet station, fresh handmade tortillas and Mimosa’s on the house, from 9am to 1:30 pm for only $150 Pesos.

Amapas Sunset: located on popular Los Muertos Beach at the foot of Rodolfo Gomez Street near the San Marino Plaza hotel and next to La Palapa restaurant. Now has a Sunday brunch for $100 pesos

A well known Sunday Brunch that has been popular with locals and visitors for many years is at the beach restaurant La Playita in Conchas Chinas below the LIndoMar resort. This great Sunday Brunch is a buffet with great fresh fruit and juice bar, an omelet station and all the typical Mexican breakfast dishes such as Chiliquiles, plus bacon, sausages, beans etc. The setting is breathtaking on various levels under palapas overlooking amazing volcanic rock formations and the sandy beach. Cost approx $120 Pesos or $11 USD

One of my personal favorites for Brunch is Hacienda San Angel, this is one of the most luxurious Sunday Brunch, (during winter season only) When I went they were serving Brunch in the Chapel, sometimes it is served in the restaurant, both have great views, the Chapel has an amazing view of the crown of the Cathedral of Guadalupe and over the red tile rooftops to the bay. The food was fabulous, from waffles with fresh raspberries and blueberries, to Lox, cold jumbo Shrimp and Prime Rib plus all the other usual comes with one mimosa cost approx $25 USD. The view from the Chapel where they were serving Brunch was spectacular and the details of the service from linen table clothes and napkins, real silver cutlery and much more.

For breakfast on the other days of the week I suggest the following:

Memo’s Pancake house on Basillio Badillo, they are one of the few restaurants who serve breakfast until 2pm each day, after all you are on vacation and might sleep late. Obviously great Pancakes, but also Blintzes, Eggs Benedict, all kinds of egg dishes and of course all the Mexican favorites.

El Tucan: on Basillio Badillo at the corner of I. Vallarta Street daily from 9am – 12 noon also great breakfasts.

Sea Monkey: the newest of the Cheeky Monkey restaurant family, located on Los Muertos Beach in front of Vista del Sol Condominiums, next door to Molina de Agua condos, great breakfast enjoy a beach view , friendly service and great prices.
