Malecon access in 2 months The four month schedule for the new malecon project in Puerto Vallarta is until completely but access is only restricted during the first stage which is scheduled for only 2 months. We are already 2 weeks into the project and that leaves potentially only 6-7 weeks more that the Malecon will be restricted access. The Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Salvador Gonzalez Resendiz announced that the Malecon improvement project is moving faster than expected, weekly meetings to announce the status of the project are planned. A campaign called "El Centro Has Life", has been launched, with a goal to remind people that restaurants and businesses along the Malecon are still open and to attract people to the area. The Mayor reported that on review of the past week’s work on the Malecon that work is ahead of schedule and work on the Jetty has started, and all of the old concrete has been removed this according to Noticias Diario Digital

Mayor Resendiz also confirmed that his office is working closely with businesses in the area and taking steps to minimize impact of the construction, including installation of temporary lighting, security, and spraying down debris with water to mineralize dust and that the project is being supervised by expert engineers, architects, and designers.

No. All businesses are operating as usual.

Does the work break with the identity of Puerto Vallarta?
No, because only materials that reflect and support the colonial style typical to Puerto Vallarta will be used.

Will there be concessions to place tables and chairs along the boardwalk?
No. The commitment is to respect public spaces.

Yes. Our primary concern during the planning of the project was public safety.

Do you close for the street Diaz Ordaz the passage of vehicles?
No. We will respect the lanes that currently exist and introduce speed limits.

Why are traffic lights used on Morelos Street?
Because of the work in progress, is necessary to divert traffic and avoid gridlock or congestion.

How long will the project take to complete?
The project will be delivere in 4 months. Access will only be restricted during the first phase, or for 2 months.

How is the program being funded?
Funding provided by the Municipal Government in coordination with the State and Federal governments are behind the program.

How will the city benefit from the work?
The project was created to attract more tourists to Puerto Vallarta, show casing the destination as a place to live, host events like the Pan American Games in October without losing the charm of our Mexican heritage and architecture. We see the project making Puerto Vallarta a better place for families to live in.

What company was hired for the construction of the Malecon?
The construction company is Gemini SA. Experienced in carrying out major works like the Pitillal River and the Estero Salado bridges, the ramp at the Puerto Vallarta International airport and an 8 lane development near the Ameca estuary at the mouth of the Salado River.
