The Frontera Farmer Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting smaller sustainable farms near the Chicago area. This means fresher produce for local restaurants and a smaller carbon foot print for all. This is how Mexico has managed until recently and we hope they do not forget their heritage and the benefits of a fresh produce being available same day without refrigeration.

The Frontera Farmer Foundation, established in 2003, to bring attention and support to small farms in the Chicago and surrounding area. The owners and staff of the Frontera Grill and Topolobampo in Chicago created the concept and the Foundation began from their concerns for the many hard working farmers who are depended on for fresh produce the heart and soul of the local Culinary Culture. They found that the small farmers in the area promote bio diversity by planting a wide range of produce and are more likely to use organic practices. The artisanal approach to agriculture not only invests in t he community but produces a higher quality of food. Without small local farms great local cuisine is unattainable.
