PUERTO VALLARTA READY FOR THE WINTER /VISITORS SEASON What a better way to start the new season then with El Die de Los Muertos , translation The Day of the Dead, one of Mexico’s most colorful festivals and is a great opportunity to experience its culture, history and people. On November 2, from 7 to 11 pm, there will be a Day of the Dead Celebration & Fiesta in el Centro the downtown of Puerto Vallarta with a Mariachi show, a performance by the Xiutla Folkloric Ballet and firew

As well the Art Walks begin, these are a great way to get to see some of Vallarta’s best artists, meet the Artists and Gallery owners, locals, new friends and have a glass of wine, or cocktail or snack offered free in the tour at most of the Galleries. The Art walks for the 2010/2011 season are scheduled for ever Wednesday from 6 -10 pm starting October 28^th going thru May 25^th 2011, all of the galleries are in an area about 7 blocks X 2 blocks on the North side of the River Cuale. This will be the 13^th year of this great local custom.

As well there is a daytime tour hosted by Gary Thompson the owner of Galleria Pacifica. This is a free tour which starts on Tuesday, November 16^th at 9:30 am and showcases the sculptures along the Malecon/Sea wall. The tour is along the full Malecon which is about 12 blocks (approx half a mile) so wear walking shoes includes 10 sculptures all amazingly different from the Millennium at the North end of the Malecon at the Rosita Hotel, to the Angel of Hope and Messenger of Peace at the Los Arcos Amphitheatre in front of the main plaza, with such exotic options in between as the Rock Eater and Rotunda of the Sea by well known local Artist Alexandro Calunga presented to the city in 1997.

Gary Thompson is also working on a tribute to one of Puerto Vallarta’s beloved artists - Ramiz Barquet, who passed away at age 90 this past July. He contributed many of the public sculptures around town including the well known his most famous work, “Nostalgia,” has been on the Malecon ocean promenade since 1984 and has become one of the main visual symbols of Puerto Vallarta, featured in various magazines, newspapers and travel books, including on the cover of the current Moon Publications` “Puerto Vallarta Handbook.” The highly romantic story of how it was inspired by his relationship with his wife Nelly has captivated the imagination of couples of all ages, serving as a symbol of universal love as well as a tribute to the special romantic quality of Vallarta.

The 16^th annual Gourmet Festival is another popular event starting November 11-21^st with 10 days of amazing gourmet delights. Under the auspices of Thierry Blouet, Heinz Reize and Roland Menetrey, founders of Festival Gourmet and leaders in the local culinary scene, this year’s Festival promises a full roster of master chefs, and local and international luminaries from the food world. With over 30 partner restaurants and hotels, this year’s Festival is shaping up to be a must-eat event.

On Saturday November 6^th the Farmers Market will be starting again at the same popular location across from the restaurant Coco’s kitchen at the Paradise community center.
