Renting a private villa for your vacation is especially good when traveling with children. They have more space to play and you have privacy. When you rent a vacation rental villa you have your own private pool, no need to be concerned your children are bothering everyone at the hotel pool. You also have a full kitchen if your kids are picky eaters and staff to cook for them. If you have small children you can bring a baby monitor and lounge by the pool while they are napping. We can also supply babysitters if you want an adult’s night out at a gourmet restaurant and dancing.

There are many options for things to do with children in Puerto Vallarta that cost very little or nothing.

Here is a list of some of our favorites:

Ø Los Muertos Beach: the beach itself is fun for children of all ages, but Los Muertos Beach also has water sports, wandering beach vendors selling all sorts of inexpensive toys and treasures from kites to jewelry. Set up camp in the shade of a friendly palapa and you can have drinks and lunch served to you on the beach, close enough to keep an eye on the action
Ø Private beaches: if you prefer a more tranquil setting try the sandy coves of Conchas Chinas or go north and explore
Ø Sayulita – the town is very interesting and they have a surf school on the beach depending on your children’s ages. There is also interesting shopping and some great restaurants.
Ø Swim with the Dolphins – apparently the Dolphins love children or at least their high voices and children love the dolphins
Ø Canopy tours: approx 10-11 years and older is best for this – our recommendation is Los Veranos Canopy tour. The bus ride alone is an adventure along the south coast and inland just beyond Boca Tomatlan.
Ø Fishing and Boating: make sure you have lots of sunscreen and it is a family oriented cruise, not an open bar cruise more suited for adults. The coast line along the bay is some of the most beautiful you will see and you might see dolphins or whales not to mention all the other sea life
Ø Yelapa: take the water taxi from Los Muertos pier to Yelapa and return in the afternoon.
Ø Buses: Try taking your children on one of the local buses – they will love it. On any given route you might have live music (for tips) some one selling tamales from a giant pot or perhaps a live chicken or two.
Ø Walk the Malecon: early morning or late afternoon is best not in the heat of the day. Watch all the cruise ships coming and going, fishermen and maybe even dolphins or whales. Sunday night is the best as we mentioned above.
Ø If you do want to have dinner in a nice restaurant we recommend Daiquiri Dicks, located on popular Los Muertos Beach. They have children’s menu and if you are seated near the front your children can play on the beach while you enjoy a margarita and watch the sunset.
